The challenge

Private equity onboarding can be long and complex. It often includes identity checks, legal requirements, financial information, compliance questions, documents, and signatures.

Many required steps could not simply be removed. The product needed to make the process clearer and more manageable without hiding the regulation-heavy nature of the flow.

What I Designed

I designed onboarding flows and interaction patterns for private equity onboarding, including step-based onboarding, forms, data collection flows, progressive disclosure, preparation guidance, KYC and compliance touchpoints, document steps, signature steps, and prototype testing flows.

Key Product Decisions

Structured a long flow into clearer steps

The flow was designed to help users understand where they were, what was required, and what came next.

Set expectations before difficult steps

Some legal and compliance language could not be simplified. I added supporting explanation and preparation guidance where possible, especially around required paperwork and financial information.

Reduced cognitive load through progressive disclosure

Instead of showing all requirements upfront, the experience revealed information step by step.

Made the process feel more manageable

The goal was not to make a complex financial process feel artificially simple. It was to make each step clearer and easier to complete.

How I worked

I worked with product, engineering, legal, and compliance stakeholders. The process included prototyping, user testing, internal review, and iteration around registration, compliance questions, and document submission.

The onboarding experience made a regulated investment process easier to follow and more manageable for users.
