The challenge

Alternative investment subscription is naturally complex. Users need enough information to decide whether a fund is relevant to them, while the product also has to collect legal, financial, and compliance information.

The challenge was to make the process clearer and more manageable without pretending that the investment journey was simple. The experience needed to support fund discovery, onboarding, verification, documents, signatures, and subscription steps in one structured flow.

What I designed

I designed key parts of the digital onboarding and subscription experience, including fund discovery, fund summary views, staged onboarding, subscription flows, responsive UI, forms, document steps, verification touchpoints, e-signature touchpoints, and information hierarchy for fund details.

Key product decisions

Staged the flow around user readiness

The experience was structured so users could first decide whether a fund was interesting enough to explore further before being asked for deeper personal and financial information.

Used summary first, detail second

Alternative investment products can include complex risk, performance, and fund structure information. I used a summary-first approach so users could understand the offer before moving into deeper details.

Kept required steps clear

Compliance, verification, and document steps could not be removed. The UX work focused on making these steps easier to understand and easier to move through.

Delayed deeper detail until users were ready

The flow avoided showing everything at the beginning. Users first saw enough information to decide whether to continue, then moved into the heavier onboarding and full fund details later.

How I worked

I worked with product, stakeholders, and domain experts to structure the flow around user needs and required business/legal steps. The process included research, workflow mapping, prototyping, and iteration around fund information, onboarding, and subscription steps.

Outcome

The platform helped move a traditionally paper-heavy investment process into a clearer digital flow.
